Applications TechnologistThe essential functions and basic duties of the Applications Technologist will include:Project ManagementDevelops work plans and has proven time and project management skillsAbility to manage relationships with universities and coordinate testing at university culinary innovation center to conduct plant-based meat alternative application studiesWorks closely with the companys quality team to conduct bakery studies in our laboratoryAssist with R&D and production trials focused on new product development where customer input will be key to product successStrong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to think through technical solutions with an eye towards the commercial implication to the businessFamiliar with Stage Gate processes and project tracking and prioritization to drive business successCustomer Support & Technical PartnershipProvide technical service to customers as needed (plant trials, troubleshooting, answering technical questions, and presenting innovation concepts) both virtually and in-person, as needed, to support base-business and innovation effortsDemonstrate an understanding of customers, category markets, brand understanding, and consumer preferences to further drive new product development projectsDevelop strong relationships with aligned customers in the plant-based meat and bakery segmentsTake key R&D new product initiatives and evaluate in end formulations for value proposition and within customer project scopesCoordinate customer sample requests with the commercial and quality teamsInnovationUnderstands ingredient functionality and performance in different finished products and incorporate technology appropriatelyAssist with the development of new product and application literature, including Technical Reports, Concept Sheets, and Customer-focused PresentationsDevelop finished product formulations incorporating companys new product technologies for concept demos to customers and/or assist customers in evaluating companys technology within the scope of their requirementsWork on projects for key local, strategic, and regional customers with commercial successUtilize market insights database to help commercial team in presentations with customers to support our new product initiatives against customers brand and product portfolioParticipate in relevant industry tradeshow or technical events to support commercial team and product initiativesLeadershipPositive, can-do attitudeFlexibility to changing prioritiesAbility to work within a teamOpen knowledge sharingAbility to communicate effectively across the organizationBe a champion for food safety and FSMA requirements when working within the companys laboratories and with university and external partnersTechnical Qualifications:Basic QualificationsBachelors degree in Food Science or other related disciplineHands on experience in applied application technology at the customer a plusExcellent communication and listening skillsDynamic problem solver with solid analytical skillsProficient in Microsoft OfficePreferred QualificationsExperience in ingredient manufacturing and/or consumer good company in similar conditions0-3 years+ relevant industry segment experience: bakery/snack, vegetable proteins, plant-based meat alternative applications, etc. as well as high value, differentiated ingredients experienceExcellent communication and listening skills; ability to step away from the details and share the big picture impactDynamic, creative problem solver with solid analytical skillsSuperior project timeline development, risk assessment, and prioritization skills.
