The Medical Assistant Surgery Scheduler will be responsible for assisting the provider at an ambulatory healthcare site with patient visits, procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes for the practice's population. You will actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

• Diploma from a Medical Assistant program OR a high school diploma plus 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a physician practice.
• Medical Assistant certification required.
• Arrange pre-op testing for patients.
• Schedule physicians' surgeries and assist in other office areas as needed.
• Assist with patient procedures such as suture removal, wart and mole removal, pap smears, colposcopies, minor surgeries, etc. Administer EKGs, rhythm strips, injections, immunizations, vision and hearing tests, measure O2 saturation, venipunctures, and other specialty procedures as required.
• Complete FMLA paperwork.
• Coordinate with hospitals and external sources regarding lab results, X-ray results, ER reports; communicate with pharmacies, nursing homes, and patients regarding test results and care instructions.
• Pre-certify hospital admissions and referrals.
• Disinfect exam rooms, procedure rooms, and laboratories.
• Escort patients to exam rooms, check vital signs as needed.
• Record reason for visit, reconcile medications, verify allergies.
• Instruct patients on preparation for examinations.
• Obtain necessary authorization prior to surgeries.
• Prepare exam rooms and procedure trays.
• Schedule surgeries and offsite diagnostic tests.
