About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director, Finance to join its mission of developing transformational, equity-minded school leaders and advancing policies and practices that ensure high academic achievement for all children. The successful candidate will serve as the second-in-command to the Chief Financial Officer, with a focus on strategic financial leadership and operations. This role is pivotal in supporting the CFO in cash flow planning, treasury operations, and ensuring robust internal controls and compliance. The Executive Director, Finance will also be responsible for financial reporting, P&L management, and leading the reworking of financial processes to enhance operational efficiency. A key aspect of the position is to act as a thought partner to the CFO and senior leadership, providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making and the organization's goal of financial sustainability. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a CPA certification and a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 4 years in non-profit accounting. The role requires a proven track record in financial leadership, process improvement, and experience with cash flow management, treasury operations, and investment management. The ideal candidate will be equity-driven, have a strong mission alignment, and possess extensive knowledge of GAAP, particularly in not-for-profit revenue recognition. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to lead and coach finance teams, and proficiency in ERP systems and financial modeling are essential. Experience with financial system design and optimization, as well as knowledge of federal grant requirements, is a plus.
