Paikka is a small sourdough bakery and farm based in McCall Idaho. We aim to cultivate a healthy community through quality ingredients, an authentically positive environment, and a wholesome lifestyle. We are looking for a passionate, forward thinking, self-starting individual to help manage our farm. We have ~1 acre for annual cultivation and ~3 acres of a permaculture/key line based perennial system. The Farm is located behind our farm to table bakery which regularly hosts events, dinners, Wednesday afternoon hangouts, and Saturday Breakfast/Lunches. We aim to supply vegetables to our bakery, local restaurants, and the public (marketed through the bakery). Having a learning rather than knowing mentality is critical to this position. We believe in power through people rather than power over people. We value authentic positivity, and a strong ability to communicate & receive constructive ideas. A sense of urgency and a sense of humor are both massive pluses to this role. We love to have fun. Desired Experience: Please understand that this is a new farm. We need help creating procedures and systems; flexibility, experience, and creativity are key. At least 2-3 years of market farming experience in a similar climate is desired but not required. Primary Duties: This is a physical job that requires heavy lifting (50 lbs +). Extended exposure to the elements. This individual will be responsible for vegetable & flower production. Organizing & executing a planting schedule. Record keeping. Projecting & executing a harvest schedule. Regular cultivation. Compensation and Schedule: If you are not located close by we may be able to provide housing to the right individual. The farm is located behind our bakery, so many meals will be provided at no cost. McCall has a lot to offer to those that appreciate the outdoors from mountain biking to swimming, hiking, and camping. We aim to construct the work schedule in a way that we can take advantage of that. Target start date: End of May. Compensation This position is hourly, varies DOE, $18.00 - $22.00.
