Your Role: High School Digital Arts Teacher

As a High School Teacher , you will play a pivotal role in implementing and developing Uncommon’s curriculum while ensuring the success of our students. We are looking for passionate educators who are eager to collaborate and continuously improve curriculum and instruction. Specifically, we are seeking a teacher for our Digital Arts program, where you will oversee basic, intermediate, and advanced digital art classes for our enthusiastic teenage students. This is a newly created position due to high student demand!

Key Responsibilities

Instruction:

  • Teach all Digital Arts content.
  • Implement curricula and activities that meet academic standards.
  • Design and implement assessments to measure student progress.
  • Utilize assessment data to refine curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Collaborate on curriculum development and participate in grade-level activities.
  • Provide consistent rewards and consequences for student behavior.
  • Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards.

School Culture and Daily Activities:

  • Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
  • Partner with families to provide resources that support their child’s learning needs.
  • Engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
  • Support morning arrival, lunch duty, student assemblies, class transitions, and after-school dismissal.

  • Required Experience:
    • A minimum of 2 years of combined experience in Digital Arts.
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required prior to employment. Teacher certification is not a prerequisite, but candidates must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements (final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of 2.5). All instructional staff are required to become certified in NY within a reasonable period after starting employment.

Compensation

Compensation for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700 . Starting pay is determined by various factors, including relevant full-time teaching experience, education certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Candidates without full-time teaching experience will likely start at $50,000.
