The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordination of clerical, scheduling duties and phone calls. Also responsible for coordination of registering patients, as necessary.
This is a full-time position working M-F from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm out of our Edina location. There is also flexibility to work 4 10-hour shifts from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm.
ogi | Obstetrics, Gynecology & Infertility is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.
Essential Functions - Responsible for accurately scheduling surgeries/procedures, notifying patients of any time changes
- Update insurance information as appropriate and ensure updates get on patients chart
- Work in conjunction with Physicians and Manager on block scheduling and utilization
- Work with the Patient Services Representatives team on the flow of the schedule to maintain smooth workflow of the day
- Assist in training new staff in scheduling as necessary
- Communicate equipment availability to team on a weekly basis
- Report occurrences through the centers established occurrence reporting process related to employee and/or patient/visitor events
- Foster the developmental and educational process of self, colleagues, orientees and students (includes functioning as a preceptor)
- Participate in acceptable continuing education, fostering career and skill development including meeting departmental continuing education requirements
- Maintain strong, interpersonal relationships, professionalism and communication with all physician office schedulers and other coworkers
- Assist in managing controllable costs by the proper, non-wasteful use of Surgery Center resources
- Actively participate in Quality projects. Identify issues and assist in collection of data for Quality purposes
- Contribute personally to the team oriented environment by demonstrating cooperative, constructive, problem-solving interaction with all Surgery Center employees
- Participates in department/team meetings
- Serve as backup for the Patient Services Representative as needed
- Any and all other duties as assigned
Education And Experience Requirements - High School diploma/GED or equivalent
- Two years experience in related field
- Medical technology knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities, while achieving results in a fast-paced environment

Essential Requirements Ability to:
- Comply with company policies, procedures, practices and business ethics guidelines.
- Complete job required training.
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, (e.g. HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
- Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance
- Work in the clinic, office or surgery center during business hours
- Travel independently throughout the clinic, office or surgery center (which may include movement from floor to floor); frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required
- Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines
- Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner
- Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
- Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Understand and execute a variety of instructions
- Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Travel to other work locations, if required
